Serenity Now

I's only 11:00 AM, and I'm already a big ball of nerves awaiting our 7:00 PM tip-off against Florida State tonight.

This game is our last chance to earn a marquee win in the regular season.  The Michigan win is still good, but it was a long time ago, and we don't have a signature win to hang our hats on since then.

For all intents and purposes, winning this game locks us into the #4 seed for the ACC Tournament.  The #4 seed is important -- one less game to play, and a 5-12 game against Georgia Tech (on their home floor) doesn't help us at all, but if we lose it really hurts us.  Dodging that game altogether is the best course of action.

For all intents and purposes, winning this game assures us of an NCAA Tournament bid.

It's a big game.  Likely the biggest regular season game since we beat Duke in overtime in 2007.

Remember?
A win tonight sends our seniors - Mike Scott, Sammy Zeglinski, and Assane Sene - out in style, and it sends a message to the college basketball world: UVA is a force to be reckoned with in March, and is not a draw any vogue team wants to see in the Big Dance.

The key is Jontel Evans being able to contain Michael Snaer.  If that happens, I think FSU will continue to struggle finding points, and we'll be able to ride the home crowd's enthusiasm and our seniors' drive to a hard-fought victory.  If Jontel can't hold Snaer in check... ugh.

You guys will be missed.
So nervous, but playing big games in March is what we always hope for, so here we go.

Serenity now.
