With Appy State upsetting Oklahoma tonight, 5-4, tomorrow's schedule is set...
11:00 AM -- Game 3: Oklahoma vs. Army, loser eliminated
3:00 PM -- Game 4: Virginia vs. Appalachian State
7:00 PM -- Game 5: Game 3 Winner vs. Game 4 Loser, loser eliminated
Appy's ace, Ryan Arrowood, pitched against the Sooners. Their #2, Seth Grant, is most likely who we'll see tomorrow. Grant boasts a 6-3 record, a 3.33 ERA, with a 2:1 K to BB ratio. Grant's wins were against Rider, Davidson, The Citadel, Elon, Oakland, and College of Charleston. His losses were to LSU, Georgia Southern, and Samford. He's only had one decision since April 14th. Seems to me like this guy is an effective pitcher, especially at the SoCon level. That's a solid baseball conference, but it's no ACC. Grant seems like a run-of-the-mill Saturday or Sunday starter, the kind of guy we've been able to put some runs on this year. Given Appy's shaky bullpen (top two relievers sport ERA over 5.50), we should be able to hang some offense on the Mountaineers. Problem is, they are a very talented offensive team, as well. Runs will be plated tomorrow, no doubt.
Artie Lewicki takes the mound for the Hoos. In my humble opinion, he's our best - or at least hottest - starting pitcher right now. I'm not alone in that sentiment.
Let's take care of business and avoid that double-header tomorrow evening.
In the meantime, GO ARMY! Knock the Sooners the hell out of our regional!
Time to ball, Artie. Time. To. Ball. |
GO HOOS!
