Getting a Break

Remember when we were concerned about the lack of depth on this team after the transfers? Remember when we all thought if those kids stuck around you never know what would have happened? Well last night was the first time that really came back to bite us. Square in the ass. While James Johnson would immediately have become a bigger part of the rotation with the injury to Assane Sene, the player we really miss now is KT Harrell. I’ll explain why.

Grab some bench
Sammy Zeglinski has become an iceberg. In his last 4 games he is shooting a whopping 19% from the field and an even more astounding 17% from long distance. At this point I’m not sure he could hit the ocean off a boat to use a terrible cliché. Not only that Sammy is only adding 2.5 rebounds and 2.25 assists per game over that span. So in reality he is not doing a whole lot to make up for his poor shooting. While we can absorb the black hole of points that Jontel Evans is because of how tough he is on the defensive end, we can’t make that same compromise with Sammy. So why do we still roll him out every night? Simple, because we have no other option at this point. We can’t roll out a true freshman 2-guard and expect him to adjust right away to the rigors of ACC play. The only kid that could reasonably replace a senior on the court in the thick of the ACC season is a player that has been there before. A player that could be motivated to perform and prove himself, and a player that could excel as the third option in an offense. A player that I personally thought KT Harrell was.

So screw you KT and James. Stick around and you finally could get what you wanted all along. But you had to be pussies and go crying home to your mommies instead of working hard and hoping for a break, something that almost always comes. I hope we can somehow turn this into a positive, but right now it’s just pissing me off.
Didn't think I could hate you more.
I was wrong.
