ACC Basketball Sucks!

Watching the crawl at the bottom of the screen during VT/Clemson in the ACC Championship Game (which I swore I wouldn't watch, but here I am.)

Virginia 86, Longwood 53... Okay, clockwork.  The Lancers are probably the worst team we'll face all season.

Miami 83, UMass 75...  Nice little win for the Canes.

Kentucky 73, North Carolina 72...  Two bluebloods, close game.  Okay, okay.

Richmond 70, Wake Forest 62...  U of R always has a good team, and Wake is a mess.  Fine.

Boston U 75, Boston College 61...  Wait, what?  I know BC is basically starting from scratch this season, but a 14-point home loss to the Terriers?  Jeez.

Tulane 57, Georgia Tech 52...  TULANE???

This prompted me to take a look back.  I know the ACC crapped the bed in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, losing 8-4, with many of the losses to the B1G not even being competitive.

So far this season, ACC teams have lost to such storied programs as Coastal Carolina, Iona, and Holy Cross.

BC looks like total garbage.  Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Wake look like sub-.500 teams.  NC State is a confusing mess, Florida State can't score, Clemson doesn't know what its identity is going to be, and Miami's great guards aren't playing very great.  Virginia Tech lost to a Minnesota team that was missing its two best players.  UNC is even struggling through fits and starts, as is Duke.  Virginia blew it against TCU.  The ACC - to this point of the season - does not look very good from top to bottom.

This is not good for our bubble chances, nor will it help our RPI.  Maybe the ACC will pull it together as the season moves along.  Or maybe it's a down year.  Pitt and Syracuse -- we need you now!
