Virginia 19, Louisville 17
Jon Tenuta dials up enough exotic blitzes to keep Will Gardner off balance, our safeties do a good job on [star L'Ville TE] Gerald Christian, and the Lambert/Johns pu pu platter does enough (with enough ball security) for the Hoos to put four field goals on the board to go along with a defensive score.
It's a huge win for Mike London and a massive complication for the FIRE LONDON crowd. But I think the guys get it done this weekend, with major kudos to Tenuta.
Didn't see this prediction coming at all. Does the fire London clock come down with a win this weekend?
ReplyDeleteNope. It comes down when we get to mid-December and he's still Virginia's head football coach.
DeleteI was shocked as well. I like the more optimistic Kendall. Though I understand your long-term plan, as well.
ReplyDeleteMy long-term plan being that we can hope for something more than praying for a 6-6 season and a shitty bowl game in Detroit? This year's roster has 9-win talent, but we'll grind our way to 5-7 or 6-6.
DeleteYeah, that one.
DeleteThe 6-6 season is the single greatest kick to the nuts the football team can give us this year.
DeleteTruth. But it's inevitable. You know it's inevitable, I know it's inevitable, we all know it's inevitable.
DeleteI hope you're right but I wouldn't bet on it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not betting. Just predicting.
DeleteNice one, K.
ReplyDeleteMy concern is the fact that our offense still has to be carried by our defense. It still was poor.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Fairchild/OB and the 1980s offense is kept on life-support by our great defense, this program is still going to seem like it is going uphill.
I predict we will go to a bowl. If so, we may retain London. I HOPE HOPE HOPE, the decisionmakers have the courage to go in a different direction next year with the offensive schemes and coordinator --letting OB and Fairchild's contract expire and brining in someone with a more frightening and modern track record..
I will never doubt you again.
