I don't know how this season is going to end up*, but I do know this: I'm excited as hell about the future of the franchise, with young Messrs. Guy, Jerome, and Diakite leading the charge.

* I don't know how this season is going to end up, but here's my current best guess:

Lose tonight to strep Notre Dame.  Not a terrible thing, as it gives the team a chance to rest up and recover from illness.

Granted a 5-seed and a shitty draw for the Tournament on Sunday night.

Scrape by the 12-seed by about 12 points, similar to what we saw last night, with two 5+ minute scoring droughts making the game closer than it should have been.

Spring the mild upset over the 4-seed.  (Florida.  I want Florida.  Give me Florida.)

Bow out gracefully in a hard-fought game against the 1-seed (assuming it's Kansas).  If we're out west and facing Gonzaga, all bets are off.

  1. Your predictions have been pretty solid so far this season and I hope you're right this time. A Sweet 16 finish would be a nice end to an up and down season.

I think I'm a little less optimistic about Diakite than you are. The talent is unquestionably there, but the learning curve has been slower than I'd hoped. On the other hand, Guy and Jerome, even after last night's debacle, have come along even better than I'd hoped (they can now both play defense well enough to satisfy CTB! That's no mean feat for a first-year! Sure, neither is a stopper, but Perrantes was viewed as a defensive weak-link as recently as early last season. They're both at least as far along as Perrantes was his first year).

Throw in the new blood we've got coming in (along with whatever ends up happening with Nichols' scholarship. Who knows?), and I'm very optimistic for next season. Which is nice, because its very nearly time to say goodbye to London and I'm not looking forward to that.

  2. Nice article, thanks for the information. You give me some idea's. I will bookmark for next reference.
